A decorative pair of Japanese ceramic bowls made in the Satsuma style, featuring the characteristic ivory-toned glaze with fine crackle (crazing) and delicate hand-painted decoration enhanced with gold outlines. These bowls were produced for the export market during the early 20th century, a period when Japanese Satsuma-style ceramics were highly popular in Europe and North America.

Bowl I – Bird and Medallion Decoration
(Kyoto Satsuma Style – circa 1900–1920)

The first bowl displays a charming hand-painted composition with a stylized bird surrounded by floral elements and a decorative border of colorful circular medallions

The decoration is outlined with very fine gold detailing, typical of refined Kyoto Satsuma-style export ceramics produced during the late Meiji to Taisho period. 

Bowl II – Floral and Berry Decoration

(Osaka / Kobe Export Satsuma Style – circa 1920–1940)

The second bowl features a vibrant floral and berry motif framed by decorative borders and geometric elements. The colorful enamel painting and gold outlining reflect the style of export ceramics produced in Osaka and Kobe workshops during the early Showa period.

The crackle glaze appears slightly darker and more pronounced, suggesting a somewhat later production period while still maintaining the classic Satsuma aesthetic.

Good antique condition.

Light wear to the gilding consistent with age and handling. No visible structural cracks or repairs. The crackle glaze is original to the firing process and typical for Satsuma-style ceramics.
