This is a remarkable set of three polychrome plates from the esteemed De Klaauw workshop in Delft. The plates feature a central peacock tail motif, symbolizing beauty and elegance, surrounded by intricate floral and geometric patterns.
Porseleine Klaauw was a renowned Dutch ceramic workshop active between 1661 and 1840, based in Delft. Known for its fine earthenware and hand-painted designs, the company blended traditional Dutch motifs with vibrant polychrome palettes. Its works were highly regarded for their exquisite craftsmanship and artistic detail, making them prized collector's items today.
The large plate measures 23.5 cm in diameter, while the two smaller plates are 16.5 cm each. The finely crackled glaze on the reverse and the De Klaauw maker's mark attest to their age and authenticity.
